Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach - Distance and Throws These positions assist in the coordination of the HCC Track/Cross Country teams by performing all duties assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director to the best of their ability and in a professional manner. There are two positions available. HCC is looking for candidates for a Distance Coach and a Throws Coach. This job requires weekend and evening hours to recruit and attend meets. The approximate use of time will be 1/3 recruiting, 1/3 coaching/student engagement, and 1/3 administrative or office type work. These positions will assist in coaching the cross country athletes in the fall, and assist in various coaching capacities which may include distance, middle distance, and throws in the spring. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in recruiting activities. Attend all practices, workouts, and home and away contests on the Track/Cross Country Schedule. Administrative tasks such as making spreadsheets, or ordering food for the team, as directed by Head Coach. Inventory/assist in ordering and organizing gear/equipment for the cross country and track team. Attend coaches' meetings and clinics for professional growth. Attend and take part in the in-service training provided by the Head Coach. Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Remain until all participants have left facilities or designate a responsible person to remain. Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior. Help manage the teams' social media accounts and promote the program through marketing and social media. Work continually with the Athletic Director and other coaches to upgrade the total athletic program. Teach fundamentals, techniques, etc., as directed by the Head Coach. Assume responsibility of assisting the head coach, under his/her supervision, in performing assigned responsibilities. Assist the Head Coach with driving responsibilities to away contests. Be loyal to the Head Coach and his/her program. Attend other activities of the school as often as possible. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Related experience and/or training desired. Computer experience desired. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Applications accepted up to 12/10/2025.
