The Dispensary Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, including ensuring the dispensary operates safely and efficiently, motivating the staff, creating and implementing business strategies, monitoring and developing informational material, and training new staff.
Responsibilities:
Implements the strategy designed to grow the Store in conjunction with the Assistant Managers
Provides oversight and leadership to the Assistant Managers and provides advice and feedback on management, employees, facility management, and Store challenges with the goal of maintaining the highest level of quality and safety in the Store.
In conjunction with Assistant Managers, oversees inventory, use of METRC, financial records, compliance reporting and store compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations and all related SOPs with respect to the Store to assure that operations at the Store such as product dispensing, cash management, inventory management, inventory auditing, customer service, complaints, pricing to meet cost and sales targets, outreach, marketing and ordering are functioning with integrity and in the most cost efficient, compassionate and compliant manner.
Conducts performance reviews for Assistant Managers and all Store staff including Retail & Inventory Specialists and Front Desk Associates
Oversees and assures the safe and accurate dispensing of cannabis and cannabis devices to customers
Implements and monitors compliance with written policies and procedures consistent with NJ law and regulations for store operation in collaboration with senior leadership
Implements and monitors tactical programs in conjunction with senior leadership to pursue targeted goals and objectives for the Store
Develops goals for sales, service, and profit, and leads Assistant Managers and staff to exceed them
Implement policies and performance standards
In conjunction with the Assistant Manager, oversees hiring, training and scheduling of staff at the Store
Implements and monitors staff training protocols to ensure the onboarding and training process adequate in providing guidance on the company’s brand, culture, policies, and procedures.
Ensures that all deadlines with respect to the Store’s operations and company initiatives are met.
Drives a culture of positive employee engagement with a strong focus on inclusion, fairness, and diversity
Effectively manages cash controls and financial reporting
Ensures that the registers, cash outs, bank logs, inventory and deposits are accurate and executed according to CR standards
Works with the Inventory Team to ensure inventory needs are met and assists in the inventory count, audits, reconciliations, and record keeping as needed
Effectively manages service labor and scheduling in coordination with senior leadership.
Works with senior leadership to perform business management operations and analyses, develop and review KPI reports for the Store to monitor opportunities and challenges with a goal to maximize revenues and profits.
Maintains an expert awareness retail cannabis trends to help create innovative and adaptive strategies to improve customer service
Maintains open lines of communication with senior leadership and team members regarding business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues
In conjunction with HR, senior leadership, and the Assistant Managers, provides discipline to employees for valid violations of policy or procedure
Promotes open feedback from retail staff, medical professional team, and other members of management.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary and remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs
Keeps current, informed, and compliant with updates and regulations regarding the state CRC program and communicates changes to senior leadership and team members
Implements and monitors consumer and product tracking systems and solutions
Provide guidance to team members on escalated customer concerns, complaints, or suggestions and provides service recovery as needed
Establishes and maintains relationships with advocacy groups and other professional organizations to positively represent CR as well as the NJ cannabis industry
Collaborates with CR staff and other associated groups to inform and educate citizens about adult use cannabis and its applications including preparation and presenting of educational materials
Conducting in person and virtual presentations to community groups, senior living facilities, events, webinars
Establishes and maintains rapport with customers and community stakeholders that the Store serves.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or relative field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of management experience in the retail, restaurant, grocery, or other service industry with responsibility for financial results.
Experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets required
Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
Proficiently operate Point of Sale, Inventory Management, Product Menu platforms, and other necessary forms of technology
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational, strong problem-solving, and time management skills
Knowledge of cannabis is favorable.
Ability to work independently and as a team with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Availability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Requirements:
This job operates in a professional environment. Travel is required up to __% of the time. Long periods of standing or sitting may be required. Lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
Background Check Requirement:
As a condition of employment, a complete criminal history background check pursuant to New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission’s regulations is required.
