The Medical Affairs Director serves as the medical and strategic lead across key client portfolios, responsible for integrating scientific integrity with brand and business objectives. This individual will oversee the development of medical strategy, data‑driven storytelling, and evidence‑based communications across therapeutic areas, ensuring all content and engagement are scientifically accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned. In addition to serving as the primary client‑facing medical lead, the Director will partner closely with Account and PR teams to translate complex science into impactful narratives that drive understanding, adoption, and behavior change. This role is ideal for a scientifically trained communicator with strong strategic acumen, leadership experience, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Key Responsibilities Medical & Scientific Leadership Serve as the lead scientific and strategic advisor across assigned accounts, ensuring alignment of all medical content with brand and therapeutic objectives. Oversee the development and review of high‑quality, evidence‑based materials including publications, data decks, advisory board content, disease education, training modules, and launch materials. Ensure scientific accuracy, fair balance, and compliance with FDA, FTC, and industry standards across all deliverables. Translate complex data into compelling, clinically relevant narratives tailored to healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patient audiences. Stay current on emerging data, clinical guidelines, and competitor landscapes to proactively identify opportunities for scientific differentiation. Strategic Planning & Account Management Partner with senior Account and Strategy leads to develop and execute integrated medical affairs strategies across multiple brands and therapeutic areas. Contribute to annual brand planning, message development, and launch roadmaps, ensuring scientific strategy is embedded throughout all communications touchpoints. Lead medical strategy during client planning sessions, advisory boards, and major congresses, providing real‑time insights and recommendations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align medical objectives with business goals, including Corporate Communications, Public Relations, and Medical Affairs. Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and client Medical Affairs leadership to ensure seamless alignment, delivery excellence, and scientific credibility. Manage and mentor a team of medical writers, scientific associates, and medical strategists to deliver high‑impact, compliant scientific communications. Foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability across departments. Provide training and performance feedback to enhance team capabilities in medical writing, strategic thinking, and client engagement. Client Partnership Act as the primary client‑facing medical lead, representing RXMD at client meetings, scientific congresses, and strategic workshops. Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and scientific advisors. Lead medical portions of client calls and review meetings, anticipating questions and providing strategic input that positions RXMD as an indispensable thought partner. Qualifications Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) highly preferred. 6–8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, scientific communications, or agency leadership (including experience managing client accounts). Proven track record of leading medical communications for major brands or launches across multiple therapeutic areas (neurology, addiction, women’s health, immunology, etc. a plus). Deep understanding of clinical development, data dissemination, and healthcare communications best practices. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with experience building and maintaining senior‑level client relationships. Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
