The Nutrition Assistant is a part-time position responsible for supporting the WKUCCC Nutritional Associate with roles and responsibilities related to the nutritional needs of the children ages birth through five years old in the Head Start/Early Head Start program. The Nutrition Assistant is tentatively scheduled to work Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, but hours are subject to change based on the needs of the program. In addition, there are some evening and the occasional Saturday that events and/or training sessions take place that will require attendance. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies. Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as portioning meal ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, surfaces, and equipment. Regularly check and log the temperatures of kitchen equipment. Deliver breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily to classrooms following meal delivery guidelines and meal times. Always adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Dispose of waste and empty trash bins regularly. Sanitize and prep food delivery carts. Perform the duties of the Nutritional Associate as needed in their absence. Regularly support and meet with the Nutritional Associate, Director, and/or management team to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities. Assists in record keeping and inventory management of the kitchen as needed. Participate in required training hours to maintain up to date job requirements and skills.
