About the Role

The Firmware team within VehicleOS architect the foundation of tomorrows intelligent vehicles. The team develops critical embedded systems powering Applied Intuitions revolutionary VehicleOS platform, transforming how global automakers build softwaredefined vehicles. Engineers work with realtime operating systems, board support packages, and hardware abstraction layers to enable nextgeneration automotive experiences and intelligent vehicle software platforms.

As Engineering Manager, Firmware, you will lead a team of talented engineers building embeddedC/C++ systems, RTOS implementations, and low-level hardware integrations. Your teams work will directly impact how vehicles sense, process, and respond to complex environments and industry demands.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team developing core firmware solutions for VehicleOS.
  • Drive technical execution, architecture, and handson development of embedded systems, including Linux, QNX, and hardware abstraction.
  • Guide the integration of sensors and hardware with realtime firmware and board support packages.
  • Partner with product, hardware, and software teams to deliver reliable, productiongrade automotive software.
  • Execute firmware and lowlevel software code reviews and provide technical leadership.
  • Set a compelling roadmap for firmware innovation, balancing speed, technical quality, and team productivity.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts, team building, and ongoing mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, preferably from top programs (Stanford, Berkeley, CMU, Waterloo, or similar).
  • Significant experience in embedded firmware or low-level RTOS development.
  • Handson background with ADAS, Linux Kernel, QNX, and sensor integration.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ with expertise in hardware/software codesign.
  • Track record of code reviews and technical leadership; direct coding experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience in software project management and technical documentation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloudconnected vehicle platforms, SDV architectures, and AIdriven automotive applications.
  • Prior experience in technical sales support or application engineering for embedded software products.
  • Knowledge of functional safety (ASIL levels), cybersecurity (ISO21434), and AUTOSAR tooling (DaVinci, Tresos, Vector, etc.).
  • Background in electrical/electronic architecture and software integration in modern vehicles.
