Mechanical Design / Coordination Manager

A prominent mechanical contractor in Pittsburgh is seeking a Mechanical Design / Coordination Manager to lead a dynamic team of CAD Designers. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical design expertise with team management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical trades and a proven ability to coordinate complex piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems using AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of CAD Designers: assign tasks, review work, provide training, and ensure quality output
• Oversee project timelines and ensure deliverables are completed within budget and schedule
• Develop detailed and accurate drawings for ductwork, plumbing, and piping systems to support prefabrication and field installation
• Utilize architectural and engineering models to create coordinated mechanical layouts, resolving clashes and optimizing system integration
• Maintain and update BIM schedules across multiple projects
• Collaborate closely with Construction Operations Managers, Sales Engineers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and General Contractors
• Ensure mechanical systems are fully coordinated with building components to minimize field conflicts and maximize efficiency

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical coordination and design
• Bachelor’s degree (required)
• Prior experience managing design teams (preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; Revit experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling tools and workflows
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Willingness to visit job sites and climb ladders/stairs as needed
